Since the November meeting, it had been determined that the Louisville Bantam A team has more than eight (8) second year players. All Buckeye League games will be recorded as 1-0 losses for the season and the team will play at the AA in the end of season tournament and will be the 7th seed.
Murray moved on to the end of season tournament. Games are tentatively scheduled for the following locations:
Mites - Sportstown
Squirts (A & AA) - Louisville
Pee Wees (A & AA) - Sportstown
Bantam A - Louisville
Bantam AA - Sportstown
Midgets - Louisville
There is ice scheduled in Cincinnati for overflow, as needed. This schedule is subject to change.
Jeff Walker reported from the Conduct Committee. The committee, with support of the board, upheld the Cincinnati Pee Wee A protest against a game played in Indy on 10/24. The facts support that a curfew time was not noted on the scoresheet and the Cincinnati coach was not notified of the curfew time until approximately three minutes prior to the stoppage of the game with 4+ minutes on the game clock. Other items in the protest such as a goal that was called off and whether or not the invitation was made to play the non-league game the following day as a league game are subjective and have no bearing on the outcome of the committee's decision. The game must be played in Indy and it is the responsibility of the two teams to work out a schedule. Jeff will notify the Indy coach of the decision.
Jeff contacted Chris Racine about the coaches certification. Since this is not a USA Hockey rule, rather a Mid-Am rule and there has been no direction provided from Mid-AM, the league is not going to structure guidelines. If a protest comes out of league play concerning the certificate of a coach, it will be passed to Mid-Am for a ruling.
Hugh Richardson from Athens presented the Athens Bantam A roster which listed 12 second year players. He explained that Athens has only 20 Bantams and put them all on one roster. He felt there was confusion as to what actually constituted a second year player. The board defines a second year player by birthday, not whether he is returning to that team. The board further stated that given the circumstances, an exception would probably have been given to the team, had we known about it before the scheduling meeting. As with the Louisville team, all league games will be recorded as 1-0 losses. Placement at the end of season tournament will be reviewed.
Athens also suggested the inclusion of a Club/High School division for the 1999-2000 season. If there is enough interest, the league will consider it.
Next meeting will be a conference all to be held Monday January 11.
Motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting.
