    League Satisfaction Survey

    Posted: 03/09/1999

In order to better evaluate the 1998-99 season and to adequately plan for next year, the BTHL Board asks that all members (Association officers, coaches, managers, parents, players) complete a survey. The form can be completed on line or on paper. Send me an email request if you would like to fill out the form on line, your local BTHL Rep should have the paper form if you prefer that method. The results are being tabulated as received and can be viewed from here.

** League Standings Tie Breaker **

    Posted: 2/12/1999

The following tie breaker will be used in the case of a tie in points for regular season standings:

    1. Results of Head-to-head series between tied teams.
    2. Goal differential (Goals For minus Goals Against) in games between tied teams.
    3. Goals Against in games between tied teams.
    4. Goal differential in all league games.
    5. Goals Against in all league games.
    6. If still tied then declare co-champions. (Coin flip will be used for tournament seeding).

    ** Scoresheets! **

    Posted: 01/15/1999

Please keep up with sending your scoresheets in. Even though the scores and standings are kept current via phone calls and email, I need a hard copy of the scoresheet on file. With the scoresheet I verify scores and reported misconducts. Please mail them on a weekly basis to:

    Buckeye Travel Hockey League
    c/o Len Holtgreven
    1707 Cherry Ln
    Findlay, OH 45840

    ** Rosters! **

    Posted: 11/10/1998
    Updated: 01/15/1999

I still need some of your rosters. The BTHL contact list maintained on this website will have the Id# stamped by USA Hockey if I've got your roster on file. Please check if your not sure and mail it to the same address noted above.

    Scheduler Notes

    Posted: 10/23/1998

We are now a couple of weeks into the season and I would like to thank the team managers for the job they've done in reporting game scores. Compared to the previous 3 seasons your cooperation in that area has been outstanding.

I do have a couple of requests however:

    1. Home team The home team is responsible for reporting results, preferably by Sunday evening. One of 3 methods can be used (in order of preference): 1) Use the new game reporting system on our web page (see below) 2) Send me an email message 3) Call it in, I've got an answering machine.
    2. Game# When reporting games PLEASE use the game#. I can't emphasize enough just how much time that saves. Remember that as a league we are playing dozens of games each week.
    3. Home score first Along the same line, when reporting the score PLEASE list home score first. When I enter game scores I'm just keying in numbers with no idea of who the teams are. If the scores are in the wrong order the score will be keyed in backwards. I'm sure you can appreciate the time savings I can achieve if I don't have to look up schedules and correct scores after the fact.
    4. Scoresheets The home team is to mail them to me every week. I only want scoresheets involving league games. This would include non-league games if a game misconduct was issued and the suspension is to be served during a league game. (Please don't send me all your non-league scoresheets, I don't want them and since it's often not obvious whether it was a league game I'm forced to look up your schedule to verify whether it is or isn't). You can tell which scoresheets I've received by looking at your schedule on the web. If the game is listed in bold print I've got it. With the scoresheet I verify the accuracy of the reported score and look for any unreported game misconducts. I'd like to keep up with it from week to week and not have 500 scoresheets to look at the 1st of February. You can find my address included in the "Contacts" page for Findlay.
    5. Game misconducts When you have a penalty involving game suspensions I want the following procedure followed:
      • Both teams are to report the penalty. This eliminates any convenient lapse of memory if the offending team happens to be the home team.
      • The front and back of the scoresheet is to be faxed to me by Monday morning. Due to the sensitive nature of these incidents and problems experienced in previous seasons I will not post names on the web without a copy of the scoresheet in my hands.
    6. Non-league games I will add non-league games to your schedule, but since I've added the game reporting system to our web page I'm asking you to report results directly through that system.
    7. Game reporting system If you've not used it yet it works like this:
      • You must have Internet Explorer 4.0
      • You need to get a password from me. Just send me an email and I'll assign you one. This password will allow you to maintain your team (and only your team) roster and game (Home and Away) results. If you manage multiple teams you can keep the same password for each.
      • You must submit a Roster via the web page. Click the menu choice "Rosters" located on the left side of the screen. Find your team on the displayed list and click on it. Click "Edit Roster" and fill in the blanks. Note that this is not updated immediately, give it a day or so. Once your roster has been submitted and posted to the web you're ready to go.
      • To report a game score bring up your schedule and click on the "Game#". If a score has been previously reported then any individual statistics for this game will now be displayed. Click on the "Post Results" and a blank scoresheet will be displayed (after entering your username and password). Simply fill in the blanks and click "Submit Score". Same as the roster, give it a day or so to show up.
      • Note that statistics are tracked for league games only. You can view them for individual teams by displaying the roster. You can view them for an entire age group by clicking on the age group header located on the Roster team list. ie: "Mite", "Squirt", etc. With the statistics displayed you can sort the list by any of the underlined columns simply by clicking on that column. ie: Click on "Points" and the list of players will be sorted by Points scored, etc.

I'm looking forward to a great season and appreciate the cooperation and support I've received up to this point.

    Thanks again,
    Len

    Game Posting Program Error

    Posted: 10/06/1998

It has just come to my attention that I have had a problem with posting game results via our web page. The problem shows up as a "Javascript error" and will occur when attempting to post a game score involving a non-league team.

    The problem has been corrected.

If you've had problems with posting games in the past, PLEASE try again.

If you've had problems in other areas, PLEASE let me know about that too. This is a new program and the only way to work out the bugs is by using it and providing me with feedback.

    Thanks for your help,
    Len
