September 12, 1999 Meeting Minutes
Conference Call

The purpose of this meeting was to review teams that petitioned to play 'A' even though they are 'AA' teams by the Rules & Regulations.

Board Members Present: Vice President - Steve Wilson, Scheduler - Len Holtgreven, Treasurer - Murray Stall, and Secretary - Kim James

Meeting started with information presented by Murray and Steve that the Greater Cincinnati Youth Hockey League (GCYHL) folded at the Mite A and Squirt A levels due to lack of teams. Those teams have asked to play in the Buckeye League.

MITES
This is a single AA division with 7 teams.
Added Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and Oxford/Butler County

SQUIRTS
This is a split A/AA division with 6-A and 6-AA teams.
Added to the A level, Dayton Bombers, Northern Kentucky and Oxford/Butler County.
Moved to the AA level - Columbus Flames - roster has 11-2nd year players.
Approved for A level - Cincinnati - 7-2nd year players; this is a 2nd team, also fielding a AA team.
Findlay - 8-2nd year players; this is a 2nd team; AA team plays in Little Caesars

PEE WEES
This is a split A/AA division with 7-A and 8-AA teams.
Moved to the AA level - Toledo - roster has 11-2nd year players
Approved for A level - Columbus Flames - 8-2nd year players, little travel experience

BANTAMS
This is a split A/AA division with 5-A teams and 8-AA teams.
Moved to the AA level - none
Approved for A level - Columbus Bluejackets - 8-2nd year players; this is a 2nd team, also fielding a AA team

Easton - 7-2nd year players; fairly new program, little travel experience

MIDGETS
This is an A level only with 10 teams divided geographically.
All the Midget teams met the A/AA guidelines except for Northern Kentucky. They were denied placement in the A division with a roster of 7-3rd year player, 8-2nd year players and no first year players.

Additional discussion included the additional fee the Dayton Gems Squirt Minor and Pee Wee Minor teams would pay for playing in the A and AA divisions. A $25 per team administrative fee was agreed upon.

Member Organizations Represented: Findlay, Gem City, Columbus Flames, Kettering Fairmont, Dayton Bombers, Athens, Columbus Bluejackets, Cincinnati, Columbus Chill, Owensboro, Louisville, Butler Co./Oxford, Hamilton, Northern Kentucky

Meeting was called to order by Vice President Steve Wilson. This Board Meeting immediately preceded the 1999 - 2000 Scheduling Meeting.

The minutes from the 9/14/99 conference call were reviewed and accepted.

Nominations for the position of President were requested. None were presented.

Treasure's report was accepted into record.

Due to lack of teams for the 1999 - 2000 season, Newark, Lakota and West Carrollton were dropped from the league. These organizations can petition for membership in the future.

Due to conflicts and ice requirements the end of season tournament will be held over two weekends. The Mites, Squirt A/AA, Bantam A and Midgets will play February 18 - 20, 2000. The Pee Wee A/AA and Bantam AA will play the weekend of February 28 - 30.

Next meeting will be held Monday October 18, 1999 at 7:00 p.m. at Sportstown Ice Center in Dayton, OH.

Motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting.

Post Meeting notes - Tracy Merritt of the Dayton Gems volunteered and was voted in as President of the BTHL for the 1999 - 2000 season.
