Letter received from Carson Woods of the Columbus Blue Jackets

The NHL expansion Columbus Blue Jackets have extended a special seating program to the Buckeye Travel Hockey League. For a limited time only, a block of Blue Jackets seats are being reserved in the new Nationwide Arena for members of the BTHL.

In order to gauge the interest level, they would like a response faxed to them by April 7. For those of you that did not receive a form in the mail, you can either:

  1. Click here if you have Acrobat Reader installed on your computer
  2. Email me at bthl@mail.bright.net and I'll send you a copy.
Please note this is NOT a commitment to purchase, this is simply to gauge interest.

If there is enough interest to move forward with the program, then our players, coaches and family members will be able to purchase 3 & 6 game mini-packages (not available to the general public). Also, our teams could possibly have access to up to 60 seats for a team or group outing. However, the only way to make this happen is with your help. Because of ticket demand, they feel it's highly unlikely that the Blue Jackets will be offering group sales to the general public.

According to the literature I've received, there will only be 1500-2000 single game tickets available each game. Those tickets range in price from as low as $20 in the upper bowl to as much as $60 in the lower bowl. They expect all available tickets to be sold out before the season even starts. If you think you have an interest, PLEASE respond to their offer. Remember, this is not a commitment to purchase.

League Satisfaction Survey

Posted: 02/24/2000 Updated: 03/08/2000

PLEASE! In order to better evaluate the 1999-00 season and to adequately plan for next year, the BTHL Board asks that all members (Association officers, coaches, managers, parents, players) complete a survey. The form can be completed on line, or if you prefer, your local BTHL Rep should have the paper form. The results are being tabulated as received.

Notes:

  1. These tables have been available all season under the "Rosters" section and to view them you will need Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or above. Netscape does not support the required features and will give you "Javascript errors". Note that most AOL CDs have IE 5.0 included.
  2. These stats have been entered by your team managers (not me) via the online game reporting system. If there are errors please contact your manager, he/she can make the corrections. (I will not enter statistics).
  3. The names are sorted by the statistic (points, saves, etc) and listed in descending order with "zeros" filtered out. A complete list of names can be seen by clicking on the "Team", "Name", "Pos" or "Yr" columns.
  4. The list can be printed by "Right clicking" anywhere on the desired list and selecting "Print" from the resulting menu.
  5. The time for your browser to load the data will take anywhere from a few seconds to as much as a minute depending on how fast (or slow) your internet connection is (when viewing "All Ages" in particular). Watch the message in the lower left hand corner of your browser. As it's loading it will altenate between "Loading dataset..." and "Data binding". It will say "Done" when complete. Once the data is loaded you can sort by other statistics simply by clicking the desired column heading. This is much faster than returning to the Bulletin Board and clicking on another link since the data is already "loaded".

It has been brought to our attention that there was a mistake regarding the Bantam AA year-end tournament dates in the October meeting minutes. The mistake has been corrected. Please accept our apology for the confusion.

Non-League Results

Non-league games are optional to report. If you'd like your non-league games to show up on the website please send me your schedule. I will enter the schedule, but I'm asking you (the team manager) to enter scores using the online system. If you don't intend to follow up with the game results (win or lose) please don't bother me the schedule.

If you have questions about using the system I'd be happy to work with you and try to get you going.

Good luck and have fun!
Len

STATISTICS

A few notes for those of you using the online game reporting system.

  1. Penalty minutes can be entered in whole numbers. There is no need to enter the ":00" of a 2 minute penalty.
  2. For the purpose of statistics reporting, a game misconduct is entered as 10 minutes. As an example, a player that gets a Major penalty for checking from behind would have 2 penalties and 15 minutes. (5 minute major plus a game misconduct).
  3. Game misconducts are indicated by entering an asterick (*) in the blank box under the "GameSusp" column.
  4. If one goalie is used during a game the system will simply use "Goals Against" to calculate the "Save%". (Be sure to enter "Saves" not "Shots"!) If multiple goalies are used then it becomes slightly more complicated. You need to enter the goals against for each goalie under the "Goals" column next to the goalies name. The system assumes your goalie will not be scoring any goals, if he/she does score then send me an email and I'll update the system manually.
  5. Individual statistics can be entered and/or updated an unlimited number of times. Note that the system does not update the website "live". A specially formatted email message is sent which I must receive and post. The latest message received (even if back to back) will overwrite previous updates. (So give your postings a day or two to show up before you bombard the system with additional updates).
  6. You may find it easier to enter data by scrolling through the form using your [Tab] key. The problem is that all the fields on the form are pre-filled with spaces and you will not be able to enter data until the spaces have been "deleted". For the first time user this can be a little confusing because it's not real obvious just what's going on. Advancing through the form with the [Tab] key will automatically highlight the entire field and allow you to enter data directly.
  7. Be patient when attempting to view the age group statistics. Allow the entire file to load before clicking on one of the sort columns. If you click too early you'll be viewing an incomplete file and the only way to get the complete file is to "Refresh" the page.
  8. If your jersey #s on the online roster are wrong, correct them before posting game results. All statistics are tracked by jersey #, not the name. If games have already been posted then you'll need to re-post them after your roster has been corrected.

SCORESHEETS

Home teams - please mail your scoresheets in at the end of each weekend. Mail them to:

Buckeye Travel Hockey League
c/o Len Holtgreven
1707 Cherry Ln
Findlay, OH 45840

With these scoresheets I do 3 things:

  1. Verify the accuracy of the reported score.
  2. Check for unreported game suspensions.
  3. Verify that game suspensions have been served.

You can look at your schedule on the web and see for yourself which scoresheets have been turned in, the game results will be in bold print. Regarding the game suspensions, in the interest of timely information, please fax those scoresheets to me @ 419/422-9036 (please mail the others). Due to past problems with inaccurate verbal reports, I will not post player names until I've received a hard copy of the scoresheet.

SCHEDULES

Schedules have been entered and are now posted. Please print them out and review them ASAP. If there are any corrections I need to hear from you. If there are NO corrections I want to know that too.

Thanks for your help and have a GREAT season!

Any "JavaScript Errors" which may appear on your screen are probably due to an incompatible browser. Internet Explorer is free and available as a download from the Microsoft website.
