The purpose of this meeting was to review teams that petitioned to play 'A' even though they are 'AA' teams by the Rules & Regulations.
Board Members Present: Tracy Merritt, Vice President: Ken Nagel, Scheduler: Arthur Burghes, WEB Master: Len Holtgreven, Treasurer: Dr. Keith Kenitzer, and Secretary - Kim James
MITES
Three teams petitioned to play in the A division. Going strictly by the rules, the division currently has 2-A
teams and 6-AA teams. The decision was made to combine into a single AA division with 8 teams. The two
teams that are truly A teams, Cincinnati and Columbus, IN, will be given the option to drop out with a full
refund.
SQUIRTS
This is a split A/AA division with 11-A and 10-AA teams.
Petitioned & approved Athens Bobcats - roster currently shows 7-2nd year players.
for the A level - Easton Ice Dragons - roster currently shows 7-2nd year players.
Cincinnati Cyclones - roster currently shows 7-2nd year players. Cincinnati is
also fielding a AA team.
Butler County Blackhawks - roster currently shows 8-2nd year players. It was
noted that most of the returning players from last year's team went to the Cincinnati AA team.
PEE WEES
This is a split A/AA division with 11-A and 9-AA teams.
Petitioned & approved Athens Bobcats - roster currently shows 8-2nd year players
for A level - Easton Ice Dragons - roster currently shows 9-2nd year players. Players have
little, if any travel experience. Most have come out of the house programs
BANTAMS
This is a split A/AA division with 13-A teams and 6-AA teams.
Petitioned & approved Athens Bobcats - roster currently shows 7-2nd year players.
for A level - Moeller- roster currently shows 8-2nd year players. Moeller is also fielding a AA
team.
Owensboro - roster currently shows 8-2nd year players.
Petitioned & denied Dayton Bombers - Based on the information supplied by the Bombers coach, it
was the opinion of the board that this team would be too strong for the A division.
Subsequent contact with this team indicated they would not stay in the League.
MIDGETS
This is a split A/AA division with 5-A teams and 6-AA teams.
Petitioned & approved Athens Bobcats - unknown until after registration, but wants to field a A and
for A level - AA teams. It is the expectation of the board that the "best" players would be on the AA team and if the A team
exceeds 6 third year Midgets, that they would be weaker players.
Owensboro - roster currently shows 6-2nd year players, but could increase by 1 or 2 house players.
NOTE -
The above decisions of the board were based mainly on the information provided by the coaches with the
petition. These approvals were made with the current number of 2nd year players indicated. Per the BTHL
Rules & Regulations, additional second year players cannot be added to the team once they have been approved
to play in the A division.
