The rules are only 6 2nd year players right? Easton Dragons peewee A team has 10 out of 16 second year players. Would they deconsidered as a AA team?

You are correct in that six second year players are allowed on an "A" team. Any team can petition prior to the start of the season to play at "A" level with more than six. I feel that it a judgement call based upon knowing the players and the level of competitiveness of the league. I think the Easton coach knows that his kids are at an A level even though they are mostly second years. I think their record reflects this.

The league provides a way an organization can petition to play down despite the number of 2nd yr players are rostered. I'm not sure the details or requirements that have to be met, but your organization should have a league rep who should know or be able to find out.

From their record, they are playing where they belong. Leave the kids be as they are receiving no advantage from this.

as you can see, rules were meant to be broken

Who ever wrote this letter in regards to how the Butler County aa hockey team cheeks, does not know what they are talking about. The only reason they are saying this is probalby because our hockey team beat them, and they are "SORE LOSERS".

Unfortunately the person posting this message did not do us the courtesy of adding their name to the posting, (I would have liked to personalized this message). USA Hockey does not emphasize, nor encourage, body checking at any level. USA Hockey prefers the use of "Body contact" as opposed to "Body checking". The fact remains that it is a part of the game and is being taught to the Butler Co PeeWee team. We as and an organization, (and a team) will continue to promote skills development over punishment tactics as directed by USA Hockey. The simple fact of the matter is that kids will be kids, and when things start to degrade in game situations the on-ice officials step in to take control of the game. The Coach should control the bench, and allow the on-ice officials to do their job on the ice. Officals are not perfect, (a lesson learned the hard way, by becomming one), and can't make every call. Learn to live with this fact and life gets a little easier. My sugestion would be to concentrate on what your team is doing, and allow us to do the same. The problems, if any exist, will become apparent as the season progresses. The Hockey Board, Coaches, and Parents will do all in their power to insure the players receive the proper education in body checking. We will however not emphasize body checking as the princapal part of the game. If in the course of the season you wish to speak to me about this matter please feel free to contact me, personally.
