The August board meeting of the BTHL will be a conference call to be held Monday August 14, 2000 at 7:30 p.m. Ohio/Kentucky; 7:30 p.m. Indiana. The main purpose of this meeting is to discuss the upcoming season.

2000 - 2001 Board Positions
Most board positions were filled at the Annual Meeting. However, the positions of Treasurer and Scheduler are still open. Contact any board member if you are interested in holding one of these board positions. If these positions are not filled, they will be appointed at the September Board meeting per the BTHL By-Laws.

Len Holtgreven, who has been the Scheduler of the BTHL since it's inception has agree to continue to maintain the WEB site, but will not serve as scheduler. Len has done an outstanding job in the past and he will be missed. In an effort to make this job a little more manageable, the Scheduler's position is being broken up by age division. Therefore instead of one person trying to manage the schedules for all 60+ teams, he/she will only be responsible for the teams in that division (including 'A' and 'AA'). The scheduler will also have responsibility to maintain each team's roster in their respective division. Contact any board member or Len Holtgreven if you are interested in the Scheduler's position. This is a paid position.

2000 - 2001 Team Applications
Team applications were mailed in July. They are also posted on the WEB page. Each team must submit an application with the applicable $125 team fee. One check may be written for multiple teams, however, each team must submit a team application. Team registration fees are again $125, if received by September 1, 2000. A $50 late fee is assessed for applications received between September 1 and September 8. No team application will be accepted after September 8, 2000. If a team is applying for an exemption from the AA level, a list of players with birthdays and past level of play must accompany the team registration form, with an explanation of why an exemption is being requested.

Len is maintaining a list of prospective teams for the 2000 - 2001 season. Check the BTHL WEB site often for updates. Also notify Len of any changes in your teams participation. The BTHL WEB site is http://www.bright.net/~bthl/

So far we've had quite an interest in the league this year. We have more prospective teams listed for this season than ever before, up about 20%. This is shaping up to be a very competitive season.

2000 - 2001 Scheduling Meeting
The BTHL Scheduling meeting will be held Saturday September 16, 2000 at the Dayton Airport Inn in Dayton, OH. The September BTHL Board meeting will start at 9:00 am with the Scheduling meeting starting at 10:00am. A representative from every team must be present to schedule for their team. One person from an organization trying to schedule for all teams is not acceptable; it slows down the entire process. By having a coach or manager scheduling for his or her own team, we're able to keep the meeting to a reasonable length, typically we're done by noon. Each member organization is also encouraged to attend the board meeting. This will be the final approval of new organizations joining the league and of teams petitioning for exception of the A/AA rule.

Please copy this mailing and distribute to all the appropriate people within your organization so that they are aware of what's happening.
