** League Standings Tie Breaker **

Posted: 01/20/2003

The following tie breaker will be used in the case of a tie in points for regular season standings (same as last 4 years):

  1. Results of Head-to-Head Series between tied teams.
  2. Goal Differential (Goals For minus Goals Against) in games between tied teams.
  3. Goals Against in games between tied teams.
  4. Goal Differential in all league games.
  5. Goals Against in all league games.
  6. If still tied then declare co-champions. (Coin flip will be used for tournament seeding).

Virus Alert

I've been informed that some of the contacts from our website have been spreading the KLEZ virus. If you do not have a virus scanner please go to the Symantec website and use their FREE SERVICE to scan your system. If you find your system to be infected you can either buy their software online or purchase the virus scanner of your choice someplace else. The important thing is that you check and disinfect your computer and ASAP.

Hockey Tournament in Russia - 1990 Birth Year Teams

The Saint Petersburg Russia Hockey Association is looking for qualified American youth hockey teams to travel to Saint Petersburg, Russia to compete in this tournament. Is there a team out there interested in the trip of a lifetime? Is there a volunteer out there that would be interested in organizing something for this trip? Maybe an "All League" team? Jeff Thompson (from Grand Rapids, MI) has contacted me to see if there would be any interest from someone in our league. Please direct any questions directly to Jeff @ 1-616-458-0088 or email him at info@russianyouthhockey.com.

"Bench" player added to Rosters

You will all notice a new "player" on your rosters called "Bench". Use this for reporting Bench Penalties and Open Net goals.

To revise stats simply click the desired game# on your schedule and "Post Results". After entering your password there will be a button at the top of the screen labeled "Read previously reported stats". Click there and change/add the desired stats. Remember when using multiple goalies to use the "Goals" column as a "Goals Against" for the individual goal tenders.

Problem with Posting Results

It's just come to my realization that I may have lost some of the posted results. Please check your schedule and if results that you've submitted do not show up you'll have to post them again. If your game results are there then this message doesn't concern you.

Apparently in an attempt to reduce spam, our Internet Service Provider has starting filtering out email messages with blank return addresses. Unfortunately most of the forms I've used (game results, password requests and roster updates) have no return address. You wouldn't notice anything different on your end and they never made to my inbox, they're just lost. I've made the necessary modifications to my forms and everything should work now.

Please accept my apology for any inconvenience.

Message from Hugh Miller regarding Rosters

Posted: 09/25/2002

I talked to the registrars, both Roy Davis in Ft. Wayne and Cindy Davis in Ohio, this evening to clarify this situation with rosters. All the registrars are very backed up right now. So, please send your Division Director (DD) a roster, even if it's not stamped. The registrars will then stamp your rosters with the postmarked date of when you send it to them. So if you have games this weekend, send your signed rosters to the registrar with a postmark before your first game. Then send your DD a copy of what you sent to the registrar before your game by fax (see "Contacts" for fax# - fax it to 630/604-0431 if your DD does not have a fax listed). When you receive your stamped copy send that for comparison with the first copy and to verify if the roster was stamped prior to your first game. This will make it a little easier on the registrars and on everybody else. Hopefully this will take care of the situation, and you can play games if the registrar has your roster in hand and all the liability problems are also in force as long as the registrars are in possession of the roster. Remember if you play any games without your roster being stamped or at the registrar you have no insurance in place with USA Hockey and you are not in compliance with the Buckeye League rules. This is also in affect throughout the year for any supplemental rosters. The stamped date on the roster is the key to any players being eligible for league play. Hope this clarifies rosters.

Thanks, Hugh Miller

Excel Scoresheet Template

An Excel scoresheet template can be downloaded by clicking here. (Paper copies of scoresheets will be required only when game suspensions are issued.) Click on the link and you will be prompted for "User name:" and "Password:" with 2 buttons "OK" and "Cancel"; click on "Cancel" and you will see a spreadsheet show up in a new window after a short delay. In the resulting window click on "Send/Page By E-mail ..." and send it to your email address. Upon receiving this email you'll want to save the attachment someplace locally on your hard drive (the desktop might be a good place to put it). Once you've got your own local copy, open the file with Microsoft Excel and enter your own team roster as the home team. Save it again. This will give you a "personalized" template to use for submission of your games. You will notice there are 4 "sheets" included with the template; "Sheet2" and "Sheet3" are blank, "Sheet4" has shot totals. All we want is "Sheet1" when you submit results.
