The BTHL  Annual Rules Meeting

  1. We have confirmed the ongoing "A/AA" policy of allowing 6 "2nd year" players to participate on "A" teams. In addition, exceptions to that rule will be permitted with sufficient justification.
  2. Established an additional age group, "Midget Minor", for '86 & '87s (15 & 16 years old). (It's our understanding that USA Hockey will have a tournament path for this age group leading to a National Championship.) Both "Midget Minor" and "Midget Major" will be further divided into "A" and "AA" divisions provided we have sufficient teams.
  3. We have established "Division Directors" for each of the Age Groups. These new directors will be responsible for enforcing roster compliance and statistic submission. Hugh Miller has volunteered to head up the Bantams; we're actively recruiting directors for Mite, Squirt, PeeWee, Midget Minor and Midget Major. Please contact us if you're interested.
  4. Teams will be required to submit scoresheets electronically using an Excel spreadsheet. Please check out the template included here. We will require these be submitted each week within 72 hours of game completion or Tuesday @ Midnight, whichever is later. Paper copies will still be required for game suspension verification and can be submitted via mail as in the past.
  5. Agreed that our year-end tournament would be a single elimination with consolation bracket for 1st round losers. At this time 3 associations (Indianapolis, Cincinnati and Columbus) have expressed interest in hosting this event and we are asking them to submit bids along with a guarantee of available ice time. Our preference is for a single weekend for all age groups in a central location during the last weekend of February -or- the first weekend in March.
  6. We've maintained our team registration fee of $125 and will continue our policy (started last year) of requiring a $300 tournament fee be included with the team application. The following dates have been established:
  7. Considerable conversation was given to our concern over the abundance of Game Misconducts for coaches this past season, especially at the younger age groups. For the upcoming season we will be making an effort to notify association presidents on each instance of a game misconduct issued to a coach. We will be asking that these cases be investigated and dealt with firmly at the association level. Additional suspensions will be encouraged. We consider it a very serious issue and may consider additional action in the future.

In addition to the above we're looking for feedback regarding the following issues:

  1. Mercy Rule. Would you be in favor of one and if so, how would you like it to be structured? We intend to announce a policy (or lack thereof) at our Scheduling Meeting in September.
  2. Neck & Mouth Guards. What's your Association policy on these items and would you be in favor of any BTHL requirements in the name of consistency acrossed the league?

Please email your opinions to LenHoltgreven@LoadmasterScale.com

Also, our Prospective Team List has been started and I'd like you to keep me posted as your teams are formed and intentions become more clear.
