BTHL Division Director Job Description

1)                   Roster compliance. This is the issue that prompted us to establish the position. The division director should make sure that teams have submitted rosters and/or addendums before playing any league games. The use of a player that's not officially rostered by USA Hockey is grounds for forfeiture. This is an issue primarily at the beginning of the season but  never seems to go away completely.

2)                   Scheduling issues. All games should be scheduled at our official Scheduling Meeting but there will always be things that will crop up during the season. The Division Director is first in line to handle conflicts and should follow up on cancellations to ensure they're rescheduled in a timely manner.

3)                   Game results. The team manager for the home team is responsible for reporting game results, but unfortunately that doesn't necessarily happen in a timely manner. Ideally, our goal is to have all results reported by Monday morning. People using the website really appreciate the prompt update and the longer it drags out the more work it is for all those involved. People with computers at home should be encouraged to report results Sunday night and those that use the computer at work should do it first thing Monday morning.

4)                   Game suspensions. BOTH teams are responsible for reporting any game misconducts ASAP and we ask that they follow up with a FAXED scoresheet. Names will not be posted until someone from the league has confirmed the accuracy via a scoresheet. Since we would ideally like to have the suspension list updated before the next weekend it's important that teams follow up on this just as soon as possible. Please use the fax number  630 / 604 - 0431  (listed with my name on the website). This is an eFax# and that will give us a document that can easily share with all league officials. (Division Directors, Conduct Committee and Board Members depending on how serious the incident was).

5)                   Scoresheets. We use the scoresheets to verify the accuracy of reported scores, look for any unreported game misconducts and spot check for suspensions served. If questions surface over the use of an illegal player we use the scoresheets to compare with official rosters. The team manager for the home team is responsible for mailing scoresheets and to the division director (name and address will be listed at the bottom of the each teams schedule). We need to encourage the teams to submit them periodically throughout the season as opposed to sending them all at the end.

6)                   Statistics. Team managers are being asked to submit statistics via the online system. If they keep up with it on a weekly basis it really shouldn't be a big issue. Division Directors are being asked to post the stats in cases where the team manager is not doing it.
