New Season Approaching

We are now just 1 month away from the application deadline for the 2004-05 Hockey Season! I have a few items I'd like you to take note of:

  1. I've been asked a number of times about the scheduling meeting. It will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, September 18, in Dayton at Hara Arena. Be there a minimum of 15 minutes early so we can get started promptly. We will start without you and we all know the best game times go early.
  2. As in previous years, we will be holding a brief Board Meeting at 9:00am and everyone is encouraged to attend. This is a good opportunity to meet the current Board members and get an inside look at how the BTHL runs. If you'd like to get involved we're always looking for new volunteers.
  3. I've received the first team application (Dayton Bluehawks Bantam AA) and I encourage more of you to follow their lead. Each team application involves the entry of coaches, managers and rosters. With a projected 130 teams this year I would really appreciate your help in spreading that entry work out.
  4. Regarding team applications, remember we are asking that you include a roster with the application. We would prefer to have a copy of the Roster and Team Application submitted to USA Hockey, but if that's not available just send a list of players and please include birth dates. One of the reasons we want birth dates is to spot potential problems early on while there is still time to fix things. Divisions are pretty much carved in stone once we hit the Scheduling Meeting and we have very few options when dealing with roster issues at that point. If you know jersey #s, include that too. Those of you that have entered stats in the past understand just how much nicer it is to have accurate jersey #s online.
  5. Rosters. Before your first game you MUST register your team with USA Hockey by submitting a Team Application and Roster to them. They in turn will stamp a number on it with the postmark date and then return it to you. Note that it is this stamped roster which we will eventually need for our files but if you will be playing a league game before getting it back please send us a copy of the unstamped roster. In that case it will be flagged online as "Pending" (or "AddPending" if simply adding a player). Then send us the stamped copy just as soon as you receive it and the website will be updated accordingly. During the season you will follow a similar procedure for any roster additions/deletions. We need copies of each and everyone of those addendums. Failure to follow this procedure may result in game forfeiture(s).
  6. If you see anything on the website which is inaccurate, regardless of how trivial it may seem, please let me know.
Good luck and I hope everything is going well with your pre-season!
