The 3rd and 4th seeds have been swapped due to the correction of a previously reported league game. Coaches have been notified but the tournament scoresheet may not reflect the change when you arrive to the game. Athens and Bloomington are tied in points but Athens wins the head-to-head tie breaker. As a result, Athens will be the 3rd seed. Our apologies for any confusion.

As we approach our year-end tournament I'm asking you to be especially diligent in reporting your game results. As teams lock into a specific seed they're placed in the tournament bracket and they in turn can then firm up any travel plans. Please note that your unreported results may not necessarily effect your placement but they could very well finalize the placement of other teams. Note also that I will take results from anyone (players, parents, grand parents, friends, etc). Click on the above link and if you can fill in any of the blanks please do so. Make it simple on yourself, just list the game#, home score and visitor score. That's all I need. Thank you for your help and cooperation!

Friends of Centerville High School Hockey - -
As many of you know, last Sunday near the end of the 3rd period in our Bantam Team's game, a check from behind caused a catastrophic injury to one of our players - 7th grader Joe Ross. Joe who's 13 years old is an outstanding young man, brother, son, promising student and gifted hockey and baseball player. Joe is a terrific kid. He's also the second oldest of the Ross' 4 children; two young sisters and an older brother Jimmy a 10th Grader on our varsity team.
Presently, Joe is a patient at Children's Hospital Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in Dayton Ohio. He's experiencing a significant level of paralysis in his arms and legs. In these cases, we're told by the medical professionals, it's too early to tell whether any of the paralysis will be permanent. As you can imagine, this accident has been a tremendous shock to the entire Centerville High School Hockey Family and Supporters. However, our distress pales in comparison to what Joe's parents, grandparent's and siblings are going through. There'll likely be many, many months ahead of challenging rehabilitation in front of Joe and his family and they'll need the support from extended family and friends.
Since the incident on Sunday afternoon, many individuals have come forward both that know Joe and many who don't, who've simply heard about this tragic accident and want to in some way assist. Joe's parents, Jim Sr. and Leslie's main concern is keeping Joe's spirits up as this will significantly benefit the healing process. Cards, notes, etc are much appreciated and any person who's willing to drop a note of encouragement can find Joe's address and room number at Children's Hospital below.
Others have asked what they can do to help the family cover the considerable amount of medical expenses which will accrue rapidly and not be covered by insurance. Several concerned hockey parents have set up a Joe Ross Recovery Fund for the explicit purpose of assisting with medical expenses. If you're able and willing To contribute, you'll find the address of the Liberty Savings Bank in Centerville, where checks can be sent below. If it's more convenient, you can stop in at any of Liberty's branches in Southwest Ohio to donate to Joe's Fund. Please be sure and attach the account # to any donation. That too is below.
The CHA Board will be organizing a number of events and activities over the next several weeks and months to Support Joe's recovery. We'll announce these on our web site www.elkshockey.com
In closing, on behalf of the Centerville High School Hockey Family to please keep Joe and his family in your Thoughts and prayers. If you're a coach, referee or just a concerned hockey fan, let's keep reminding players of all ages that there's a good reason checking from behind has severe penalties associated with the infraction. Thanks in advance for doing everything you can to keep high school hockey great and as safe as possible for the kids.
Best Personal Regards,
-Andy Sloan andysloan@woh.rr.com
