Year-end Tournament

Brackets are all complete for this weekend.

Team managers; please take the time to review your team schedule for accurate results. If there are any mistakes in the team seedings we still have time to make corrections, every day that passes makes it that much harder.

Team seeding, please review the BTHL Team Seeding Reference Document. If you still have questions AFTER reading the document please drop me an email at Len@HoltgrevenScale.com and I'll be happy to answer any questions (or make any necessary corrections).

The results from the first weekend have been posted. Thank you and congratulations to all the 2007 BTHL Champions!

To: Tournament Participants

The Buckeye Board has reviewed the website pursuant to Section III, Paragraph E which states; "In order to qualify for the year-end tournament, players must participate in at least half of the scheduled games for a teams' regular season."

We have done our due diligence in reveiwing the data submitted to the website concerning game statistics and have concluded that we cannot adequately determine compliance to this rule on a player by player basis. The data on the website is supplied by the "home" team entering the data and have found that it is incomplete.

Given this fact, we can not fairly determine if a skater has participated in 50% or more of his/her teams league games. In addition, we have had no independent reports of players participating in less than 50% of the games. Therefore, we have decided to waive this rule for the 2006-2007 tournament and plan to re-think our approach to accurately obtain this information for the 2007-2008 season.

Sincerely,
Hugh Miller, President
Buckeye Travel Hockey League

Competition Committee

The BTHL is now forming a Competition Committee to research plans for a preseason evaluation process for teams entering the league. This is a research only committee which will report findings and recommendations for a preseason evaluation of teams for the 2007/2008 season. The BTHL would like representation from as many Organizations as possible. Please forward all inquiries to nkic@fuse.net and I will compile the list and get the process started.

Thanks,
Hugh Miller, BTHL President

Unreported Game Results

It is the home team's responsibility to report scores but I will take results from anyone. Please check out the unreported scores and, if you have knowledge of the results for any of these games, please share it with me. Send an email to Len@HoltgrevenScale.com and I'll promptly post it. It doesn't matter if you're a "team official", I just want the results. All I need is Game#, Home Score, Visiting Score. Make it easy on yourself, the briefer the better, I don't need team names, dates or times. The game #s will give me all the details, all I need is the score.

Regarding game misconducts, BOTH teams are responsible for reporting them. Send your division director an email and follow it up with a FAXED scoresheet. Normally there should be some hand written notes from the officials on the back of the scoresheet so be sure to fax both front and back. The home team should also mail in a copy of the scoresheet in the event that something is not readable on the fax.

Statistics are entered by team managers. Both home and away teams have access to enter stats and they can be entered and updated an unlimited number of times.

Non-league and tournament games add interest and you're encouraged to add them to your schedule. Managers, click on the [Edit Schedule] button at the bottom of your schedule and then [Add] game at the bottom of the resulting screen. After the games show up on your schedule the results can be reported in the same manner as a league game, including individual player statistics.

Thanks for your help!

Game Result Reporting

League games are under way and this is a reminder regarding game reporting:

  1. Be sure to submit your USA Hockey Roster to your division director BEFORE playing any league games! Please read the BTHL rule regarding rosters. We currently have teams that have played games in violation of this rule. They now owe $50 fines and future games are subject to forfeiture.
  2. Home teams are responsible for reporting results. We would like to have them Sunday evening or first thing Monday morning. My goal is to post an up-to-date and complete League Standings on Monday morning, and it would be nice to do it just once. People appreciate the promptness and without "your single game" it's not complete. Please do your part to support your league.
  3. Home teams are responsible for mailing Scoresheets to the Division Directors. (Don't send them to me, I don't want them!) This is to be done on a weekly basis. Make it part of your routine to follow through with this. The Division Directors have a big job and by doing your part you can make their job much easier.
  4. It's the home team's responsibility to report scores but note that I will take results from ANYONE (that means you!). Check out the unreported scores and, if you know the results for one of the games, please share it with me. Send an email to Len@HoltgrevenScale.com and I'll post it. It doesn't matter if you're a "team official", I just want the results (and rest assured that the accuracy will be verified with the submitted scoresheet). All I need is Game#, Home Score, Visiting Score. The briefer the better, I don't need (or want) any commentary.
  5. BOTH teams are responsible for reporting game misconducts. Send your division director an email and follow it up with a FAXED scoresheet. Normally there should be some hand written notes from the officials on the back of the scoresheet so be sure to fax both front and back. The home team should also mail in a copy of the scoresheet in the event that something is not readable on the fax.
  6. Statistics are entered by team managers. Both home and away teams have access to enter stats and they can be entered and updated an unlimited number of times.
  7. You're encouraged to add your non-league and tournament games to your schedule. (Managers, click on the [Edit Schedule] button at the bottom of your schedule and then [Add] game at the bottom of the resulting screen. After the games show up on your schedule the results can be reported in the same manner as a league game, including individual player statistics. Note that the statistics will show up for the non-league games, but they will not be included with the summarized stats shown on the team roster. The summarized stats are for league games only.
Thanks for your help!
