BTHL Year-End Tournament

( 02/27/2008 ) All tournament game results and brackets have been posted. Congratulations to all the tournament champions and good luck in any post season tournaments you may be participating in. For managers that are interested, you can continue to add games to your schedule and post results through out the spring. If any BTHL teams are participating in their respective State Advancing Tournaments, please drop me a note and I'll add a paragraph to the News section highlighting your achievements as you hopefully continue through Districts and Nationals. To everyone else, enjoy the off-season and we'll see you next year!

( 02/18/2008 ) All teams for the second weekend have been seeded and the brackets have been posted. Again, PLEASE take the time to look them over and report any errors to our Tournament Director, Jim Geyer, ASAP!

  1. Check your game results for accuracy and verify that your team has been seeded properly.
  2. IF you've tied another team in points, verify that the tie breaker has been properly applied.
  3. Make sure the schedule makes sense logistically. In other words, can you physically be at the next rink ready to play at the posted time in the event of a either a win or loss.
If there is a problem we want to deal with it now, not game time. Thanks for your help and good luck!

I will post results from the first weekend just as soon as I receive them. In the meantime, team managers can also post results (with stats) if desired. I'll fill in the brackets as results are received.

February 15 - 17 February 22 - 24

( 01/09/2008 ) The tournament brackets have now been posted (linked from the standings page at the bottom of each division). Your team will be plugged into the appropriate slot as the seedings are locked in. Please review the brackets and notify us if you see an obvious conflict or error.

For hotel information please refer to the listing on the Cincinnati website at http://www.cincinnatihockey.org.

( 07/30/2007 ) The tournament games are all in Cincinnati and the dates are as follows:

Game Result Reporting

League games are scheduled to start this weekend and a few reminders are in order:

  1. Be sure to submit your USA Hockey Roster to your division director BEFORE playing any league games! Please read the BTHL rule regarding rosters.
  2. Home teams are responsible for reporting results. I would like to see them reported Sunday evening or first thing Monday morning. My goal is to post an up-to-date and complete League Standings on Monday morning. It would be nice to do it just once.
  3. Home teams are responsible for mailing Scoresheets to the Division Directors and this should be done on a weekly basis. Make it part of your routine and please follow through with it. The Division Directors have a big job and by doing your part you can make their job much easier.
  4. It's the home team's responsibility to report scores but note that results will be accepted from ANYONE (that means you!). Check out the unreported scores and, if you know the results for one of the games, please share it with me (and I'll share it with everyone else). Send an email to Len@HoltgrevenScale.com and I'll post it.
  5. BOTH teams are responsible for reporting game misconducts. Send your division director an email and follow it up with a FAXED scoresheet. Normally there should be some hand written notes from the officials on the back of the scoresheet so be sure to fax both front and back. The home team should also mail in a copy of the scoresheet in the event that something is not readable on the fax.
  6. Statistics are entered by team managers. Both home and away teams have access to enter stats and they can be entered and updated an unlimited number of times.
  7. Please feel free to add your non-league and tournament games to your schedule. (Managers, click on the [Edit Schedule] button at the bottom of your schedule and then [Add] game at the bottom of the resulting screen. After the games show up on your schedule the results can be reported in the same manner as a league game, including individual player statistics. Note that the statistics will show up for the non-league games, but they will not be included with the summarized stats shown on the team roster. The summarized stats are for league games only.
Thanks for your help and have a great season!

Len

Schedule has been Posted

Managers, please pull up your schedule and verify the accuracy. Send me an email with corrections or confirming that what's posted is accurate.

Please note you can also add non-league games if desired. At the bottom of your schedule is an [Edit] button, from there you can either [Add] games or [Edit] times and venues of existing games. Remember this is NOT a live update. Each change generates a specially formatted email which is periodically read by my program and posted in batches.

Divisions have been formed

(Added 9/26) The PeeWee "A2" division has been added and is reflected on the Standings page. The Midget16 division has been eliminated and all teams have moved up to Midget18.

The 2007-2008 Buckeye Divisions have been posted. If a team would like to petition to change divisions, the petition will need to indicate the teams current division, the desired division and the reason for the petition. All petitions must be submitted by Sunday, 5:00 pm to Hugh Miller at nkic@fuse.net.

A Buckeye Board meeting to consider the petitions will be held Sunday night. Results will be posted by Monday, 9/24.

Division formation:
Bantam A: Teams within the "A" grouping were very close, so we formed two equivalent A divisions. While the divisions are smaller, it leaves room for non-league crossover games.

Peewee AA/A/A1/A2:
In this division, there were 4 distinct skill groupings of teams. We divided the league accordingly.
Note: The program has to be modified to accomodate 4 levels of play resulting in the standings page showing (2) A level brackets (Hoosier & Bluegrass). Note that the A-Hoosier is our "A" level, the A-Bluegrass is our "A1" division and the current "A1" is actually our "A2" division. Sorry for the confusion, this will be fixed next week sometime before the scheduling meeting.

Squirt A:
Teams within the "A" grouping were very close, so we formed two equivalent A divisions. While the divisions are smaller, it leaves room for non-league crossover games.

**** YOUR HELP IS NEEDED! ****

Our tournament director is going to need your help in order to create the preseason schedule and seed the teams correctly. He needs an estimate within each division as to the relative strength of all the prospective teams.

  1. Is your team listed in the correct division (A1, A or AA) ? - and -
  2. Would you consider it a strong or weak team within that division ?
Your opinion will be considered along with other factors as he ranks the teams and formulates a schedule.

If your team is in the wrong division (A1, A, AA) PLEASE send me a note at Len@HoltgrevenScale.com. All other information should go directly to our tournament director, Jim Geyer, at jcbghcky@msn.com.

Thanks for your help!

Message from the President

As most of you know by now at the Annual Buckeye League Meeting a pre-season seeding tournament was approved. This has been two years in the making and I am very excited that this is finally completed. Please see the attached final addition of the completed proposal. There are some important dates everyone needs to be aware of.

August 24th all registration fees are due along with team registration sheet. A new registration sheet will be posted soon. It is very important to have this in to the competition comm. prior to that date as we only have 4 days to post the pre-season rankings and to post the tournament schedule on September 1. Your cooperation with this very important date will be greatly appreciated.

All scrimmage games will be played on Sept. 15 or 16. Each team will play four 30-minute games on only one day. After the tournament is completed divisions will be posted on Sept. 18. All teams will have until Sept. 20 to petition for a change of division. On Sept. 23 all final divisions will be posted and the scheduling meeting will be Sept. 29.

For the Sept. 15, 16 games we will need volunteers to serve as observers of each of the games. We would like to have at least two observers for each game. If you are interested in helping out please let me know by e-mail.

Again I am very excited and believe that this is an important addition to our league so the kids can have a more enjoyable experience throughout the season. If you have any questions at all, please e-mail me at nkic@fuse.net or call me on my cell at 859-992-3013.

Hugh Miller, BTHL President
