You may have seen recent emails from USA Hockey describing a directive that has been announced changing the penalty for use of language that is offensive, hateful, or discriminatory in nature. This will now be an automatic MATCH PENALTY which mandates suspension from all team activities until a hearing can be conducted before the affiliate disciplinary committee. This could result in sitting out up to 30 days in addition to any suspension or other discipline  imposed. Also, any such incidents occurring within the team, e.g. at practice or in the locker room, etc. are a SafeSport violation and must be reported. Read more at USA Hockey website.
